How Do You Properly Store and Secure a Strapping Machine for Transport?

Author: Amy Nutt Title: How Do You Properly Store and Secure a Strapping Machine for Transport? Article: Any type of heavy duty machinery needs to be properly stored and secured during transport. That avoids the machinery from becoming damaged and keeps individuals from getting injured if people are in the vicinity of the equipment during transport. In this case, we’re referring to strapping machines.

Strapping machines are used in strapping together objects for transport. Many times this includes boxes of merchandise stacked upon a pallet that need to be transported in that stack. The strapping keeps them from falling over and becoming damaged or causing injury. Sometimes, strapping machines need to be transported as well for strapping reasons. Sometimes it is good to have one on hand in the truck in case any strapping does come loose and the items need re-strapped. But how do you properly store and secure a strapping machine for transport? It would be terrible to hit a bump and such an expensive piece of equipment meet an untimely demise. Then again, what if a person were in the vicinity at that time? That could get a bit ugly.

Storing and securing

There are several ways that some businesses choose to secure their strapping machines during transport. Those methods include a bolted down box large enough to house the strapping machine or a wall mounted unit that keeps it secure.

Below is an explanation of how each method can keep your strapping machine secure:

- The bolted down box method can be successful for a number of reasons. First of all, the box should be metal or a hard plastic that is very durable. It should have a lid to keep the strapping machine inside. However, you want to make sure that it cannot move around inside the box. That means using materials such as Styrofoam or another sturdy packing material to ensure there is no movement inside the box whatsoever. What this does is keeps the strapping machine perfectly stable and keeps it out of the way of anyone who needs to work around in that area.

- Some choose to use a wall mount method. This includes using brackets and straps to secure it to the wall. This keeps it out of the floor, allowing for more floor space in the cargo area. This is opposed from using a box bolted to the floor, which can take up some floor space. However, the wall mount method needs to be done carefully. If it is not secure, then the strapping machine can become airborne if it is necessary for the driver to slam on their brakes. This can damage the strapping machine, which can cause a bad situation in the case that the strapping machine is needed during transport.

Other creative means

Of course, strapping machine owners have come up with their own ways to store and secure their strapping machines that they have found to be successful, but doing so can be a bit dangerous if it has never been done before. The above methods are frequently used methods that are effective in keeping both you and your equipment safe. What happens is you’re protecting your investment and also protecting those who have to work around the strapping machine.

The most important thing is to be sure everyone involved is using their head. Anytime anyone thinks, “I’ll just lay it in the floor because I’m sure nothing will happen” is the individual who gets into trouble because the strapping machine is damaged, merchandise that was in the way of the flying strapping machine was damaged, or someone was injured. So be sure to properly store and secure your strapping machine prior to transport. ZR Tool is a manufacturer of high-end and high-quality strapping tools and machines. Why The Cadillac Escalade Has Such A Huge Following

Author: Gregg Hall Title: Why The Cadillac Escalade Has Such A Huge Following Article: With the birth of the first Escalade in 1999, General Motors provided a luxury Sport Utility Vehicle through their popular Cadillac model. The interest in SUVs has increased since the late 90s with consumers searching for intriguing full size, higher end selections. The 2003 Cadillac Escalade came a long way from the basic model, successfully competing against rivals in the German and Japanese SUV market.

The growing concerns of an effected environment, as well as the gas guzzling nature of a sport utility vehicle makes some shy away from the thought of purchasing an Escalade. This has not stopped well known personalities from jumping on the band wagon. Not only can they afford the expensive cost to maintain and fix these SUVs, but use these vehicles to make a trendy fashion statement.

A Definite Status Symbol

The ownership of a Cadillac Escalade has become something of a status symbol throughout the years. They are showcased within music videos to denote wealth and flashiness. Movie stars and other celebrities, such as Paris Hilton own one in their personal collection of cars. The Escalade model is also quite popular among athletes. Former Golden State Warrior player, Chris Mills prefers the design of this particular SUV, which was also purchased by more than five of his fellow teammates. Top draft picks from an array of NFL teams have acquired a Cadillac Escalade with their newfound wealth. Besides on the road, this popular model also appears in various movies, commercials and music videos.

Customizing Your Vehicle

A popular trend in today’s society (in regards to cars) is personal customization. Car owners have shaped and transformed their factory models to suit their own tastes and style. A common upgrade on SUVs is to add larger wheels or chrome rims. Some exchange their factory engine for one that is equipped for racing. One of the more popular customizations is to choose a custom paint color or add visual detail to the body. This allows car owners to fully express themselves through their vehicle.

When considering the purchase of an SUV, you will find three different choices that were introduced in the 2003 Cadillac Escalade. Each model possesses an appeal that usually attracts a certain type of customer. There is the standard Escalade Wagon option, as well as the Escalade EXT Pick Up Truck. One of the more expensive choices is the Escalade ESV, which features a lengthy base.

2003 Cadillac Escalade Upgrades

Like all car models, General Motors is constantly tweaking their line of vehicles to push the envelope within the car industry. This was seen in some of the improvements made within the 2003 Escalade product line. Some of the features attached to this vehicle include Rear Wheel Drive; power assisted pedals; an improved 4 Wheel system; as well as 5.3L V8 or High Output Vortec 6000 V8 engines. In 2003, the EXT Pick Up Truck was introduced to the public. It gave consumers the ability to accommodate a total of five people and featured the convenience of four doors. This model also provided a High Output 6.0L engine as a standard. It will be interesting to see some of the other improvements that come out in future models. The Benefits Of Fuel Efficient Cars

Author: Daniel Millions Title: The Benefits Of Fuel Efficient Cars Article: Owning a fuel efficient vehicle has become of greater importance in today’s world, where gas has become a documented expense, as opposed to a spur of the moment purchase. Instead of being one of the minor factors considered when buying a car, fuel economy is now one of the top aspects looked at. Currently, highly fuel efficient vehicles are more expensive than their lesser counterparts, so it may take years to see a net profit from the savings on fuel.

Some people are willing to pay the extra money because they are conscious of the environment and want to consume less fuel, as it is beneficial to the planet, and others are negatively affected psychologically by seeing such high numbers at the pump. One who is environmentally and fuel conscious has a multitude of vehicle options to choose from, as there is no shortage of efficient cars in our society.

Kia offers several fuel efficient vehicles that are not lacking in other features. The 2008 Kia Rio is safe, sporty, and comes standard at $11,540. There is plenty of room, a powerful engine, and a reputable Powertrain Warranty. Best of all, the highway fuel economy is rated at 35mpg. The base model can be upgraded to LX and SX for only a few thousand dollars more, although upgrades do not effect fuel economy.

Mazda is not known for focusing on fuel economy, although a few of their vehicles are prominent in this respect. The Mazda3 4-Door has 148HP, multi-port electronic fuel injection, and a heap of sophisticated external features. Manual transmission yields higher fuel efficiency than automatic, with 32 highway miles per gallon compared to 30, respectively. Interesting, the higher priced Mazda vehicles have much lower efficiency than the cheaper ones. For example, as the Mazda3 is continually upgraded (there are five unique models of it), the economy gets proportionally lower.

Like Mazda, Mitsubishi is more popular for its innovative designs and impressive features than efficiency. Despite this, many of Mitsubishi’s newer models take in to account the general population’s desire for efficient vehicles. The 2009 Lancer is a perfect case of this. Its aerodynamic design makes it move easier, and it has many features that are more likely to be found on a jet than a car.

In fact, it has many futuristic characteristics that make it a pleasure to own. A keyless entry system enables drivers to open doors and start the ignition without actually needing to insert a key, and advanced navigation and Bluetooth technology complement the other attributes seamlessly. With all this, the Lancer still manages to get 30 highway miles per gallon, and a respectable 22 in city.

The company that is most notably leading the way in fuel efficiency is Chevy. Fuel solutions are one of their top priorities, next to safety, and they are pioneering the way towards a gas-free future. The Concept Chevy Volt, which has not entered the market yet, is one of the most promising electric vehicles ever designed. Chevrolet has dedicated extensive resources to perfecting the vehicle, and it is expected to have a driving range of 640 miles before needing to be recharged.

In addition to electricity, Chevrolet sees biofuels as an ideal alternative to petroleum, specifically E85 ethanol, which is made mostly from corn. Several vehicles even have the ability to run solely on ethanol, and if that fuel is not available, regular gasoline can be used as an alternative. What AreThe Benefits Of A Caravan Cover?

Author: Phil Byrne Title: What AreThe Benefits Of A Caravan Cover? Article: As summer finally arrives we can start to enjoy our caravans and look forward to getting out there and having a holiday, you have hopefully by now cleaned down your van stocked up with essentials and booked pitches around the UK. With holidays in the UK now up by 95% it has never been a better time to holiday at home. However, have you returned to your van faced with a day’s worth of cleaning and repair work with your caravan looking another year older?. This could be the time to look at investing in a caravan cover before winter returns all too quickly.

At this time we realise what a difference a caravan cover would make to our vans. With every summer it becomes clear how beneficial a cover can be and that there are many positive reasons to buy one. If your caravan has been on a storage site you will be able to see the difference in your neighbours caravans that haven’t been protected through the winter!

The Caravan clubs advice on covers

Winter storage Q: Does the Club recommend the use of covers to protect the caravan from the weather during the winter?

A: Large polythene or tarpaulin sheets should not, in the opinion of most experts, be used to ‘seal’ the caravan against the elements. Condensation and mould growth may be encouraged and any flapping material or guy ropes could scratch acrylic windows. If you feel a cover is absolutely necessary because of where the caravan is parked, however, purchase one that is made of ‘breathable’ material.

The main benefits from having a caravan cover are:

- Protection form UV damage to paintwork, upholstery, graphics and tyres.

- Preserving your re sale value of your caravan.

- Protects the paintwork from bird droppings, acid rain and a build up of black sludge on the roof.

- Prevents the rubber seals from rotting around the windows.

- Saves time, as you return to the van as you left it for the season.

- Waterproof & breathable fabric allows the caravan to breath preventing a build up of damp and keeping the caravan dry at the same time.

- A cover provides added security as a deterrent to thieves.

- Helps to disguise the caravan into its surroundings.

There is a large number of caravan covers on the market so researching the different options is key. Things to ask about:

- Is the cover 100% waterproof and breathable?

- What guarantee is offered?

- What’s a covers expected life span?

- Is the cover a generic fit or a tailored one for your van?

- Is there a door open and an allowance provided for the aerial?

- Is there an A frame cover included?

- What additional items come with the cover?

- What discounts are available over the summer period?

- Will you have to measure your caravan?

- What experience does the company have in this sector?

And most importantly…

- How much is the complete cover!? Phil Byrne is director of web marketing at H2 in Leeds. Lifting Issue With Trucks and Cars

Author: Jim Brown Title: Lifting Issue With Trucks and Cars Article: Lifting a Truck, Pick-up or Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) is equivalent to lowering the suspension of the car to make it look sportier. Lifting on their case would give the car a mean machine look. Common functions for lifting the vehicle is when it’s used to trek along rough terrains and rivers. Others also consider lifting for car show events and contests. There are different types used for lifting vehicles, which range from the cheap and ordinary body lift to the expensive and technical installations.

Body lifts – This is the most typical lift for street vehicles that don’t tackle much the off road terrain. Commonly used in show trucks, pick-ups and SUV’s these installations could take half a day. Keep in mind that other components are still stock which would affect the ride handle and airflow to the engine.

Spring Over Axle – Among the numerous ways to lift vehicles, the spring over axle lift commonly comes as a stock design for most of the 4 wheel drive vehicles. This technology is the most stable amongst the off road lifts since the springs sway independently from side to side. These installations are good for rock crawling events.

Lifted Springs – The most common lift procedure all over the world are the lifted springs. Springs comes in all types of height and types. Some springs come as soft and some are configured to be hard. Just be wary of buying because the cheaper the springs, the poorer the ride. Hard or stiff springs help prevent the tires from coming into contact with the chassis or the body. This type of lift can give you a natural ride on the highway.

Shackles – The cheapest way to get a lift is by using shackles. Lifting your vehicle this way is okay but must be done in moderation. Lifting it with taller shackles may cause problems with steering and the vehicle’s front sway control. Shackle lifts are measured in halves. If you are using an inch taller shackle, this will produce a half inch actual lift.

Coil Suspensions – The best 4 wheel drive vehicles are installed with coil suspensions. Recently coil suspension kits are being sold that fits a variety of models. Coil suspensions offer unmatched suspension travel and reasonably priced springs. The kits may not come cheap since the manufacturing of these lifts may cause a lot of work. Coil Suspension kits also come as weld on system so it is not that hard to install it. All you have to have is a welder and that’s it. These kits are the best in terms of handling and a smooth ride. Taking On The Great British Winter With Your Caravan Cover

Author: Phil Byrne Title: Taking On The Great British Winter With Your Caravan Cover Article: As the autumn nights draw in and you say goodbye to your caravan, don’t be tempted to abandon it with little more than a quick tidy round. Emptying the bin, closing the curtains and locking it up for several months are not enough to see it safely through the harshness of a British winter. Your caravan has served you well, so treat it to some care and respect and put it lovingly into hibernation. By putting in effort now, you’ll be rewarded in Spring by a caravan all ready to use in the warm months to come. How much nicer than facing last season’s newspapers, fusty cushions and an alarming smell from the fridge!

Your first job is to take out all the contents of your caravan, including all its cushions. If you have room to store the mattress inside your house, this is even better. Then give the inside a thorough clean and polish, not forgetting the appliances, and leave the fridge door open to stop mould developing. Leave all taps in their open position and plug the drain holes. That’s the inside done.

Now turn your attention to the outside and see to the tanks. If water is left in them it will freeze during sub-zero weather and expand, so ensure all tanks (including both the hot and cold water) are empty, otherwise they could split. As an added measure, many people like to leave the drain taps open. Remember also to empty the toilet flush tank.

Take out the toilet cassette and clean it well, using warm water and a tiny drop of washing up liquid. (Check your manufacturer’s guidance first regarding suitable cleaning materials.) Now dry the rubber seal and lubricate it. Specialised maintenance spray is available, although a little olive oil will also do the trick. Then replace the cassette, making sure to leave the blade open.

Next, give the outside of your caravan a thorough wash and polish. When dry, spray it with an approved overwintering fluid to give it a protective coat and prevent any excessive build-up of grime. Alternatively, for the very best solution, invest in a good quality, breathable caravan cover.

If you are removing the battery, ensure it is stored in a warm, dry place and then charge it up every four weeks.

To take pressure off the tyres and prevent flat spots from forming, jack the caravan up and put it onto axle stands. If you are not raising the caravan off the ground for the winter, rotate the tyres every four weeks and ensure their pressure is maintained. Wheel covers can be used to protect the tyres from weather damage if you have not invested in a specialised caravan cover.

Some owners like to use winter wheels, which are stands that replace the caravan wheels and allow them to be kept inside the garage. Store them upright, out of sunlight, remembering to rotate them every few weeks. Specialised Accessories are the original innovators of bespoke, protective caravan covers, motorhome covers and caravan trailer covers. Syndication Source: ThoughtSearch.com Continue reading

How Far Has The Luxury Car Market Evolved

Author: Catherine Harvey Title: How Far Has The Luxury Car Market Evolved Article: Lexus have established themselves as one of the big Japanese marques alongside Nissan and Honda. This is because the have been able to produce a great range of cars that are very reliable and very luxurious. And this, in my opinion, is the main aim of Lexus – to be the best luxurious car brand in the world. This could be true as they have got several cars that are quoted on their excellent ride and comfort as well as space.

At the moment Lexus have cars in the saloon and luxury market as this is where they are paying most attention. This also happens to be where the other top car marques in the world are showcasing there idea of a saloon car and this is the perfect opportunity for Lexus to show the public how good their car is compared to their European rivals.

For example, the IS series saloon is in direct competition with the BMW 3 series and the new Mercedes C class. These two cars have dominated that part of the market for a number of years and new comers have found it hard to get in and make excellent sales like the other two. A good example of this is the Jaguar S type. Because of this Lexus have had to design and build a very serious competitor and in many cases they have succeeded on doing this.

Many reviews on the IS series from motoring magazines have complimented the very stylish and sporty looks on the exterior and great comfort and design on the inside. Others have also written good things about the simplicity of the IS and how good the ride comfort is.

Another sector of the car market where Lexus are putting a lot of effort in is the luxury car market. They have released the LS and GS series that are putting pressure on the big car makers in Europe such as BMW, Mercedes and Jaguar.

This is very prestigious as it is this part of the market where most businesses will choose their cars whether for private use or for fleets. This is where a lot of money can be made in the car market. Lexus are again under stiff competition for their place in the market from Europe but they have got some advantages.

New hybrid technology that has been developed to be used in Lexus cars has enabled them to be more energy efficient and economical than their rivals which allows them to have a unique selling point over their competitors in the market. This will also give an advantage due to the fact that many fleet cars in a business will be travelling lots of miles every year and the hybrid technology will allow businesses to save a lot of money on fuel due to the fact that the Lexus cars will be more efficient. They have also been able to design the car so it has a huge amount of space that gives it the edge for comfort usability.

Overall, the car market has been stormed by Lexus and they are constantly revealing new and improved cars that will challenge every aspect of their rivals including comfort, space, ride, and efficiency. And it is sure that Lexus have been able to crack the car market and establish themselves as one of the best car makers in the luxury and saloon market. Vehicle expert Catherine Harvey takes a look at how well Lexus are doing in the luxury car market compared to other car manufacturers. Syndication Source: ThoughtSearch.com Continue reading
