Think BMW and you probably think of luxury cars, delve deeper and it is quite likely that you’ll conjure up a superbike or two; but what about pedal power? Surely giants of the automotive industry are all about gas guzzling engines, not an environmentally friendly solution for getting from A to B Is the branded bicycle really attractive to those who would ordinarily turn to BMW leasing, or is it just another bit of merchandise with a logo on?
Firstly, we need to establish why people choose to lease a car It could be because they like to keep their cars up to date, and a leasing contract means that it is possible to upgrade to the latest model after three years, a bit like upgrading a mobile phone Some people see leasing a vehicle as a cost efficient way to run a car Most contracts are all inclusive, so there are no unexpected costs such as MOT, services, breakdown cover, replacement parts and the like
The other reason some people choose to lease is because they care about the environment as well as their wallet Living in a city or busy town, everything is nearby and the public transport system is usually quicker than trying to battle through all the SUVs blocking the route to school If you haven’t got a car to hand, a ten minute stroll to the shops seems fine; but if you do have one on the driveway, it is all too tempting to just hop in Not good for the carbon footprint
For people living in urban areas it is often more cost effective, and carbon efficient to lease a car whenever you need to, for example for a family day out, or possibly a business meeting BMW being notorious for upmarket cars fit the bill perfectly; so is their move towards pedal power a recognition that environmentally conscious families might like to get a about a bit quicker than walking pace, or is it clever branding to ensure that their logo is subliminally embedded in the minds of people who occasionally hire a car
Their bicycles appear to be robust, suitably stylish and there are models available to suit all ages and heights, but it has been noted that each BMW bicycle prides itself on carrying a distinguished logo This might be just the trick for suburban families that want to give the impression that they are doing something for the environment whist maintaining their neighbourhood reputation, but as far as BMW leasing is concerned, it is the opinions of the petrol heads that count, which is performance that branding just can’t buy
