The Truth About Used Car Parts

Author : Victor Epand

Used car parts are provided by millions of manufacturers in this day and age These parts include just about anything your car might need These used car parts tend to be considerably less expensive than brand new car parts, and the difference is generally more than twenty percent cheaper

There are tons of used car parts available on the internet If you search for a used car part online, all you have to do is pay with your credit card They will ship the part to whatever shipping address you provide them with It should arrive within a few business days This is convenient, especially if you want to avoid making extra trips with your car until the part you need is replaced

Online, there are usually images of the used car parts that the websites are selling Be careful when shopping online, because they may not sell you the exact part that you are looking at in the image Sometimes parts are already painted, and they might not match the paint that is on your car Sometimes, the parts are available without paint If you are replacing auto body, the color of the paint is important because your car will look strange or unfinished if it is unpainted or if it is the wrong color Talk to a body shop before you buy this type of part online

You can also purchase used car parts from small shops that only sell used parts There are plenty of these local stores in a majority of cities and neighborhoods These places are often privately owned Quite a few of these places will also offer a warranty on the parts that they sell This is a nice option if you want some added security The other benefit to going to your local used car part store is that the staff can assist you in finding the exact car part that you need If you don’t know much about cars, the may be able to help you figure out exactly which part needs replacement

Whether you are shopping for your used car part online or at your local used car part store, remember the make and model of your car Not all used car parts will fit all cars, so make sure that you note this when asking for assistance or searching on a used car part website Once you have the part you need, consider if you will replace it yourself or have someone do it for you

Victor Epand is an expert consultant about motorcycle gear, used motorcycle parts, and used car parts. When shopping for motorcycle gear or used parts, we recommend only the best stores for motorcycle gear, used motorcycle parts, and shop for used car parts.

To Buy or Not to Buy a Hybrid Car

Author : Jeffry Evans

Ever thought that 60 miles per gallon would cut your monthly gas bill in half? Me too The idea of the hybrid is almost too good to be true And from a financial standpoint, it is too good to be true The following information is a cost comparison between the Honda Civic Sedan and the Honda Civic Hybrid Sedan Essentially the same car, except the hybrid uses half electric, and half gas power, thus improving gas mileage

According to Honda, the Civic gets 40 mpg on the highway, while the Hybrid Civic gets an amazing 51 mpg This is where the salesman gets you “It will help protect the environment while saving you tons of money on your gas bill every month”, a salesman might say This is very convincing, as it appeals to both our emotional side in protecting the environment, as well as our wallet But let’s take a closer look at the two:

* Civic Sedan: Starting MSRP – $15,010

* Civic Sedan: Highway MPG – 40

* Civic Hybrid Sedan: Starting MSRP -$22,600

* Civic Hybrid Sedan: Highway MPG – 51

Now, I have compiled a spreadsheet that will aid you in your financial evaluation of the hybrid vs regular car purchase As always, I have run an initial estimation only, you will need to download the spreadsheet at the bottom of the post, and update the numbers per your circumstances Let’s look at the findings:

Buy a Hybrid Car Financial Comparison

Make/Model Price MPG Hwy Miles Per Yr Price/Gal Gas $/Month

Honda Civic Sedan $15,010 00 40 15,000 $2 75 $85 94

Honda Civic Hybrid Sedan $22,600 00 51 15,000 $2 75 $67 40

Monthly Savings with Hybrid $18 54

Yearly Savings with Hybrid $222 43

Price Difference $7,590 00

Months to Recoup Price Difference 409

Years to Recoup Price Difference 34 1

The results are staggering! Look at how long it will take for the gas savings to pay you back for the difference in price of the car 34 YEARS!!! Clearly not a wise investment However, if you still are considering buying a hybrid car, the government does offer some tax advantages The Energy Policy Act of 2005 allows a tax credit to be applied to an owner of a new hybrid car, as long as it meets the programs requirements (at least until 2009)

The tax credit is derived from statistics run on the particular make/model hybrid car you purchase, but usually will fall somewhere around $1,500-$3,000 This is a deduction however, not a check Depending on your tax bracket, the actual dollars of tax savings will vary The nice thing though, is the deduction can be applied on top of the standard deduction!

Having said that, if you are in the 20% tax bracket and got a credit of $2,000, your tax savings would be $400 Not bad, but you will still need to drive that Honda Civic Hybrid Sedan for about 30 years to get the payback The bottom line is, if you want to buy a hybrid car for the cost savings, forget it If you have a green thumb and want to help the environment, then it is still an option Be warned though, the life cycle to obtain and use the additional batteries for the hybrid car puts extra pressure on the environment, not found in regular gasoline cars

I hope that I did not shun everyone from buying a hybrid car, I still believe in the concept myself However with the current technology, it just doesn’t make sense financially I look for the day of the fuel cell car, or other concept car, that takes away the need for gasoline

Get better gas mileage with a motorcycle. Does it Pay to Buy a Hybrid Car? is just one of many great articles you will find at Personal Finance Resources.

History of Ferrari

Author : Jessica Whittaker

Which car is the greatest supercar? Many would argue Ferrari

Ferrari is one of the best sports car brands in the world Enzo Ferrari, based in Marenello, Italy founded the company in 1947 Initially, known as Scuderia Ferrari, the company sponsored race drivers and manufactured racecars, before they started the production of street legal vehicles in the year 1947 as Ferrari S p A However, till date the company still continues with its racing ventures, especially formula one

The first Ferrari road car was the "1947 125 Sport", powered by a 1 5 L V12 engine The idea of manufacturing and selling road cars by Enzo was to fund Scuderia Ferrari This car soon gained popularity and a reputation for excellence Despite the gaining popularity, Enzo was reluctant in selling road cars He believed that people were buying his cars for mere prestige and not for performance

Ferrari soon emerged as a leading racecar manufacturer and a leading race team Despite the success of the company, the internal tensions amongst the senior managers had reached boiling points "Giralamo Gardini" the sales manager had problems with the interference of Enzo’s wife Laura in the company Their disputes and arguments finally led to the resignation of Gardini Gardini had a strong support in the company Scuderia manager, "Romolo Tavoni", chief engineer "Carlo Chitti" and many others had to leave the company alongside Gardini As a revolt against Ferrari these men formed a new company ATS, to compete with Ferrari This was known as "The Great Walkout" With the outburst of this walkout, the company lost one of their best racing customers the "Scuderia Serenissima"

Before the big walkout, the company was working on the "250GTO" This project then landed in the hands of a young engineer "Mauro Forghieri" and a long time racecar body maker, "Sergio Scaglietti" This project soon managed to improve things for Ferrari The Dino road cars and legendary models such as the "F275" and "Daytona" made their way in the market and were amongst the best sellers

The company witnessed a lot of competition in the early 60s due to the emergence of V8 engine powered "Shelby Cobra" Ford also tried to buy the company, but failed in their motives In the year 1966 Fords, "GT 40 Mark 2" engines dominated the "24 Hours Le Mans race" After 1967, the Federation Internationale de l Automobile (FIA) banned the use of prototype engines over 3000cc, which heavily affected the upcoming Ferrari 330P models To protest this, Scuderia did not take part in the event

The company also witnessed great challenges by Porsche in 1968 with models such as the "Porsche908" However, the Ferrari 312PB models dominated the World Sports Car Championship in 1972

Enzo died in the year 1988 and as a result, the company saw a huge rise in the old car values as well as sales of the new models The signing of Michael Schumacher was a comeback for the Ferrari F1 Team From 2004 till date, Fiat Group controls Ferrari and owns 56 stakes of the company

Motor Home Exploration in the Mojave

Author : Andrew Stratton

The Mojave Desert is one of the greatest places in America to see spectacular scenery It’s in a unique spot; it comprises the barrier between the low, hot Sonora Desert and the cool, high Great Basin of Nevada and Utah It covers 25,000 square miles, and sprawls into the states of California, Arizona, Nevada and Utah

You might imagine a big flat, featureless landscape of sand and rock, but that’s just the view from the highway Actually the Mojave is full of desert wildflowers, majestic mountain ranges and lots of variety of scenery The entire Mojave Desert includes Mojave, Death Valley, Joshua Tree National Park and the Lake Mead area The area is defined by its geographic indicator, the Joshua Tree You won’t see these pretty desert trees anywhere else in the world

The main area of the Mojave is a stretch of pretty wilderness in southern California between Highways 15 and 40, east of Barstow and west of Needles On the east, it sits right up against the Arizona border

Death Valley

What do you imagine when you hear that? Parched hikers, vultures circling overhead waiting for somebody to drop dead, a cow skull in the dust maybe Well, don’t let the name fool you Death Valley is some of the prettiest wilderness scenery the great North American continent has to offer

It’s not all death and decay in Death Valley Actually, the valley has some rare animal and plant life that you won’t find anywhere else It also has some of the last completely undisturbed wilderness in the country

One of the things that makes Death Valley so interesting is that it has so much variety in just 3 million square acres It has mountain peaks, like the 11,000 footer Telescope Peak, and also the lowest point in North America, at nearly 300 feet below sea level

Don’t let the name scare you Death Valley was named by the miners who tried to cross it to get to California during the gold rush Many of them were unprepared, and none of them came with a fully-equipped motor home for cooling off during the hot days!

Joshua Tree National Park

One of the reasons why Joshua Tree is such a unique environment is that it’s at the crossroads between the Mojave and Colorado Desert to the east Joshua Tree provides all the wild scenery you could want, from windswept plains to giant rock formations in odd shapes It is a wonderful place to see a colorful sunset across miles of wild, windswept sands with palm trees standing all around your RV

Compared to Death Valley and other parts of the desert west, Joshua Tree is quite green and colorful It is full of wildflowers, yuccas, cacti, shrubbery and the famous Joshua Trees themselves You can hike over the barren rocks or among the pinyon pines The variety of natural beauty at Joshua Tree is what makes it so popular

Where To Stay

Your best bet in Death Valley is to stay at one of the many RV parks in Death Valley National Park You can contact the park directly, or check out their website The great thing about Death Valley is that most of the parks are open year round Some of the most popular include Furnace Creek, which is located almost 200 feet below sea level, Panamint Springs Campground or the Stovepipe Wells RV Campground If you want to be a little higher, try Mahogany Flat way up at 8,000 feet, but be advised that they are not open all year, and you must have a high clearance vehicle

At Joshua Tree, the most recommended RV parks are Desert Springs Spa and RV Park, Sam’s Family Spa or Sands RV Resort in Desert Hot Springs, or Yucca Valley RV Park in Yucca Valley

The American west contains huge stretches of uninhabited land great for motor home exploration. The Mojave Desert, which includes Death Valley and Joshua Tree, offers various natural sights. Visit Bankston Motor Homes to start your adventure. http://www.bankstonmotorhomes.com

RV Travel How To Be A Happy Camper When Travelling With Kids

Author : Andrew Stratton

Traveling with your children in a recreational vehicle can be really fun and can create experiences that strengthen family bonds and will bring happy memories for years to come But traveling with children can also be challenging Being confined in a small space with young children for a long period of time can be difficult for anyone unprepared But the key to a positive experience is preparedness

The following tips can help prepare you for your next RV adventure with your little ones Let the children help you plan the trip Let them select a few sites that they want to see, within your preset budget This will keep them excited about the trip and hopefully make them happier travelers

Practice sleeping in the RV ahead of time This may be helpful for children who get homesick easily or for kids that have never spent a night away from home A few nights before the big trip, have the family do a trial run in the driveway That way, the children will know what to expect and you will have fewer complications on the real trip

Remember to pack the first aid kit This may be needed for anyone in the family, but when there are kids around, someone always seems to get hurt So be prepared You can stock your own or purchase a premade kit from the store

Stock up on DVD’s and CD’s that your kids enjoy This will keep their minds of the length of the trip and possibly keep them from repeatedly asking “are we there yet”? For a change of pace, try books on CD This way the whole family can listen to the book at once and no one will get car sick from trying to read Also, remind your children to load up their MP3 players before the trip

Play road games to entertain the kids This includes alphabet letter hunts, out-of-state license plate searches, I spy and more If you really want to be prepared, make up sheets on the computer with signs or objects for them to look for or maps that they can follow along with

Make sure that kids are buckled in safely It is not wise to move around in a moving vehicle Encourage them to play card games at the table or other less active activities Don’t over schedule your trip and don’t rush yourselves Expect to make frequent stops, the children need to get outside often as even the most spacious motor home can be confining to a child

Give each child a space inside the motor home to store their belongings, no matter how small it may be This will make them feel more at home and will keep your RV less cluttered Get to the RV park before dark so the kids can run around and so you can take a tour of the park with your entire family This will help the children become familiar with the park and able to find their way back to your motor home

With these tips in mind, a good amount of preparation, and a patient attitude, you will find it much easier to travel with children You will also be able to create positive memorable experience for your whole family

Create happy family memories on the road despite the challenge of traveling with kids. Contact your recreational vehicle dealer to find out how to customize your RV and make it more child-friendly. Visit www.bankstonmotorhomes.com for more information.

Choosing the Right Type of Truck Toolboxes

Author : David Urmann

Truck toolbox stores all important tools in a single box There are many different models with varying features A simple toolbox can be made more appealing to customers with locks, hinges, mounts and neat subdivisions inside it

Toolboxes may also vary in the type of material used Most are made from metal, wood or plastic Aluminum and stainless steel are popular options because of the advantages It is lighter to carry and rustproof

A Professional Rail Top Mount Truck Box is mounted on the side rail It is usually used by builders and contractors because it is accessible, opening conveniently at the sides It is made of aluminum and stainless steel It fits all trucks It also has water resistant gaskets that protect the box from the changing weather conditions It has strong lock handles for utmost security, especially when parking the truck in public areas

The Side Mount Truck Box is also located in the side rail supported by notches It opens on the top while held by gas struts It is also made of aluminum and is very durable This fits all trucks

The side mount truck toolbox saves a lot of space, especially given that a truck bed is very limited It gives more room on the floor by being conveniently installed on the sides This makes it very accessible also These toolboxes usually have latch guards for more security, keeping them safely installed on the walls of the truck bed It has mounts and hooks so that there is no need to bore holes on the side of the truck bed

Most side mount toolboxes are made from aluminum, metal or wood Some are made of hard plastic also, with door opening similar to a small cabinet

The Five Drawer Truck Storage Box is also made of aluminum It is generally smaller that fits only behind the wheel It has five divisions to segregate tools orderly Each division can be pulled out separately for more convenience

If you intend to get one, always consider your truck bed, and see where you want to place the toolbox Make sure that it will not be an obstacle to other functions of the truckbed Also consider the material and durability

Truck beds come in different sizes, depending on how big your truck is So the size of the toolbox is relative to the size of the truck bed Also consider where you wish to install the toolbox If you will not be filling up the bed so much, then a toolbox installed on the floor is good However, if the bed will be stacked up constantly with bulky materials, then installing a toolbox right behind the wheel or on the side of the bed might be better

Also consider the type of material Aluminums are generally lighter yet durable Plastics may be the cheaper option but may be more easily damaged If the truck will travel frequently on hard, uneven roads, and will be exposed constantly to changing weathers, then consider investing on heavy duty toolboxes

The best toolboxes that you would choose should be the one that will fit all your tools A toolbox would be useless if you can not put your tools on it It is best that you choose the one that will surely fit all your available tools

How Motor Homes Are Set To Change In The Future

Author : Thomas Pretty

The sales of motor homes are on the increase and the industry as a whole is expected to carry on growing throughout the next few years Motor homes vary from one million pound luxury buses to more affordable smaller models For this growth to continue however the industry will have to make changes, stream lining and becoming more cost efficient is a vital part of this

Firstly for all new motor homes built there will be a reduction in the cost per man hour Ultimately companies will have to increase productivity in order for them to achieve more sales at reduced prices If customers wish to continue receiving great value it means employment in the industry may well have to be trimmed

Methods used in the construction of motor homes will also have to change The old ‘stick-built’ method will have to be rapidly surpassed The method involves individually welding and bonding frames to the chassis and is intrinsically laborious and time consuming

Modern methods of fully moulded sub-assemblies that fit onto the chassis will reduce the hours spent on construction and hence reduce the price of new motor homes This is not completely new as some in the industry already employ these methods, the scale of this type of production will however need to be increased

Aluminium and wood will have to be replaced as the primary materials used in the construction of motor homes Plastics with structural strength will have to become more widespread Once again fully moulded structures such as side walls will already contain insulation and fixtures such as windows and will simply bolt straight onto the larger frame Subsequently time and energy will be reduced

One matter of debate in the construction of motor homes is the main power source The diesel engines present will arguably be replaced by turbine engines in the future as a lightweight and more efficient alternative Also the use of hybrid engines should become a large element in the industry; as with much of the car industry the drive to be more eco-friendly is rapidly becoming a primary goal

There are also a few design elements that will have to change in the future to make motor homes more comfortable and reliable Firstly, industry standards need to be created to ensure the electronic systems are reliable and hard wearing Power surges are still a major concern as the fuses can blow in an instant; leaving travellers sat in the dark Added to the large televisions and sound systems that are present in modern motor homes the expense can soon be tallied when faulty electrics become a problem

Secondly the major area of concern in the industry is waste management All enthusiasts dread emptying their chemical toilets and technology in this sector has been slow in its fruition Problems with blockages and leaks are of prime importance especially when considering the hazardous materials involved Systems are now becoming apparent that are reliable and easy to manage, the ultimate is to have a system that leaves any waste materials in a small container that does not leak and is easy to empty

In terms of layout, for years the bedroom, galley, lounge and washroom areas have been a prerequisite, this however is set to change With the increased emphasis modern consumers place upon internet access, not only will the necessity for connection be vital but the incorporation of study areas will also form a large part of any modern motor home

These trends are at the moment just speculation, they do however follow a logical course and for that reason many may well become a reality The construction methods and materials are almost definitely going to change as are the advances in waste management solutions Whether the industry can keep up to date with the demands of modern consumers will be the deciding factor in any continued growth

Industry expert Thomas Pretty looks into the ways in which the construction of motor homes are set to change. To find out more please visit http://www.amberleisure.com/motorhomes
