An in Depth Look at Car A C Systems

Author : Tom Tessin

Any mechanic knows, ability to present comprehensive service to the customers, being capable to offer repairs &amp care for all the aspects of motorcar maintenance program is a key to retain customers The AC is standard across all the models nowadays, and while in past, air conditioning maintenance was highly skilled &amp niche marketplace, it is now essential side of business &amp key to any of the workshop s sustained success

To make sure that the refrigerant is improved properly from car s AC system at time of servicing, workshop should use automotive air conditioning machine These particular devices prevent free through venting of the CFC gases As EPA guidelines need that when car is getting serviced, Freon, and CFC12, which is been used as coolant must be collected &amp recycled sequentially that it is not been released in environment where it will potentially damage ozone layer

Refrigerant used in the most motorcar AC systems is generally based on the chlorofluorocarbons, that is linked with causing the damage to ozone layer, and control of these materials is of concern to environmental agency Whenever car AC system experiences maintenance, correct care should be taken in order to protect environment from release of the CFCs, &amp this is done best by using the automotive air conditioning Machines

Reusing Freon gas instead of allowing it to get vent in atmosphere protects environment But, when refrigerant is gathered from car s AC it is contaminated with oil, water, and other liquids, which are used in the cars Using automotive air conditioning machines, it is likely to process refrigerant &amp remove other fluids from that, allowing it to get reused, in a same system like it has got drained from, or in some other car altogether

The automotive air conditioning dynamo electric machine is able to provide enough rotational production for starting the engine by running rotor at very high speed in motor operation form for starting engine, as a result obviating need for increasing the size thereof In motor operation form, electromagnetic clutch fan connects to the electromagnetic clutch major body and as well engages cylindrical member in order to break cylindrical member The internal gear portion gives fixed element, &amp torque of rotor is been transmitted to power transmission tool via rotor shaft, sun gear, planetary gear, and carrier

Alternators are been used in the modern autos to charge battery as well as to power car s electric system when the engine is running The alternators have great benefit on direct current generators of not making use of commutator that makes it simpler, less costly, as well as more rugged than DC generator

If presenting AC repairs &amp servicing is main key to business, then having right tools for job is necessary Getting it correct at beginning while you choose the AC coolant revival machine often means selecting model from Cool Tech range All of these robust &amp very regarded specialist apparatus are at center of any severe AC shop, &amp thanks to their competence and good value for money, can pay for himself or herself again and again

The History Of The Mini Cooper

Author : Shaun Parker

It’s one of the most iconic cars in the world, but how did the Mini Cooper come to fruition? The inventor of the Mini, Sir Alec Issigonis, had always intended on the Mini being the car for the everyman, but his good friend John Cooper, who owned the Cooper Car Company specialising in Formula 1 and rally car design, had the foresight to see that the Mini would be suited to motorsport so Cooper approached Issigonis with his ideas, but Issigonis was reluctant as he had never intended his brain child for racing

Cooper was determined to have his way so approached BMC, they approved and commissioned the idea and the rest is history The first Mini Cooper’s stuck to Issigonis’s model of being a small and economic car, but with that extra poke up the backside which it into one of the most popular sports cars in history

After the Mini Cooper became so popular since hitting the market in 1961, two years later Cooper designed a more powerful Cooper, the Mini Cooper S, which won the Monte Carlo Rally three times between 1964-67 which added to the acclaim of the little hot hatch

Through the years various different models of the Mini Cooper have been produced as the motoring trade evolved along with innovations in mechanical engineering, design and technology And of course the Mini Cooper became a British icon, synonymous with British cinema following the Italian Job and was also incredibly popular with some of the world’s most famous celebrities including John Lennon and Steve McQueen

By the millennium, Rover had encountered financial problems and the Mini line was completely taken over by BMW, with Rover’s other Marques, MG and Land Rover being sold to Pheonix and Ford respectively The Mini Cooper continued to be produced by Rover on a temporary basis until the last ever Mini Cooper was produced on October 4 2000 – a red Cooper Sport – which was presented to the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust

The Mini Cooper was no longer The Mini Cooper is dead, long live the MINI Cooper Of course BMW had plans to revamp the Mini, now known as ‘MINI’, and the Cooper was to be dragged into the new millennium in style

The MINI Cooper is mechanically and technically unrelated to the original Cooper but bears distinct aesthetic similarities as well as some mechanical ones including front-wheel drive and the transverse four cylinder engine model

The new Cooper and Cooper S became instant successes, escalated by the remake of the classic film, The Italian Job, which paid homage to the original film and featured three super charged Cooper S’s which got the juices flowing of car enthusiast across the globe

Of course there were purists who did not agree with BMW discounting production of the ‘old’ Mini and those who criticised the MINI as being a small BMW with no soul or character, but you only have to look at the numbers to see what a success the MINI, and in particular the MINI Cooper has been

After only six years of production at MINI’s Oxford plant, the one millionth MINI was produced, and it remains one of the most prudent cars you can buy as it depreciates at a considerably lesser rate than many other cars

John Cooper was right to follow his heart and bypass his friend Issigonis in order to push through the production of what is today an iconic motor car

Hydrogen Powered Cars The New Way To Go

Author : Ben Franklin

With the ever-rising price of fossil fuels, it’s no wonder alternative sources of transportation, such as the hydrogen powered car are getting new look Cars that run off hydrogen, rather than gasoline, are cleaner for the environment, don’t deplete a precious resource and they are not a far off invention

The hydrogen car’s potential implications for the environment, economy and even politics make it an interesting idea These cars just might be the answer to getting around without wasting a precious, limited resource And, they just might help stave off environmental issues as well But, what are hydrogen cars and how do they work?

A hydrogen car is simply one that relies on hydrogen rather than gasoline for power There are two basic types: combustion and fuel-cell conversion Both are currently in existence, but neither have been moved into full-scale production for a number of reasons

The combustion engine is similar to what is used in most automobiles now It simply burns fuel to create power Combustion engines already in existence can be modified for hydrogen burning

Fuel-cell conversion, on the other hand, uses the hydrogen and turns it into electricity This electricity provides the power for the engine’s electric motor

No matter the process, though, the byproduct of combustion or fuel-cell conversion is simply water Rather than ozone depleting fuel, what’s left behind is nothing more than good, old fashion H2O

Adding to its environmental friendly stance, hydrogen is more or less a renewable source It comes from the decomposition of methane or can be gleaned from water Inasmuch, its only byproduct is water vapor And, unlike fossil fuels it is fully renewable

Despite its potential, hydrogen cars have not been moved into full-scale production for a number of reasons The world’s dependence on oil is a strong one and it will be hard to break Entire economies depend on its production, processing and sale, so making the switch to hydrogen will be difficult at best

In addition to a resistance from oil producers, auto manufacturers, too, must get on the bandwagon before this will become a reality They are, however, beginning more and more to research and develop cars that run on hydrogen The engines involved in modern cars can in fact be converted to burn hydrogen

One of the biggest problems with switching to all hydrogen is a problem with storage Car fuel tanks need to be better developed for this as would “hydrogen stations” where drivers can refuel In addition, more study needs to be done to increase the miles per gallon hydrogen vehicles can muster

Although much work still needs to be done to replace gasoline-based cars with hydrogen models, the idea is more than feasible In fact, with gas prices soaring, it’s looking more and more like a real possibility these cars will someday rule the roads Already there are cars, buses, trucks and even rockets that use hydrogen for their power to some extent

Reasons To Change Your Spark Plugs

Author : Everette Jamison

Your vehicle’s spark plugs play a key role in starting your car They produce the spark necessary to crank the engine The problem is that they wear down over time After hundreds of thousands of sparks, the electrodes deteriorate, widening the chasm that the spark needs to jump Eventually, you’ll begin to have problems starting your car Oddly, millions of drivers never think to replace them until they start having problems Today, you’ll learn 3 reasons why you should change them before they fail

Reason 1: Better Performance

Every time your car misfires, it wastes fuel, releases more emissions, and suffers a mild reduction in power Spark plugs in good working condition prevent misfires from happening But, as I mentioned above, they deteriorate slowly over time, allowing more and more misfires After awhile, the declining efficiency can have a significant impact on your car’s performance When you replace the plugs, your vehicle stops misfiring and enjoys increased efficiency and improved performance

Reason 2: Reduces Cold Start Problems

If you live in an area with cold weather, your car has to work harder to start A lot of times, the problem with cold starting lies with the spark plugs Cold weather can make it difficult for them to produce the necessary spark, especially if they’re dirty around the electrodes You’ll find that replacing them with new ones will all but eliminate cold starting problems Plus, the new plugs won’t need the ignition system to generate as much voltage for the spark

Reason 3: Protects Catalytic Converter

If you remember, bad spark plugs lead to misfires And when your car misfires, a small bit of fuel gets dumped into the exhaust When that happens, it can cause the catalytic converter to overheat because the temperature at which it has to operate skyrockets If the converter fails, a blockage can develop in the exhaust, choking off the engine That will slash your engine’s power and significantly reduce the fuel economy of your car If you just replace the converter, the same thing can happen The problem is with the spark plugs, so resolving the issue means replacing them

Replacing Them

Even if you’re using the type that last for 100,000 miles, get into the habit of changing them every 30,000 Remember, when they wear down, they can cause problems even if they don’t fail (bad fuel efficiency, low engine power, etc ) Changing them every 30,000 miles helps ensure those problems don’t happen Besides, they’re inexpensive and simple to replace If you don’t want to do the job yourself, most mechanics can do it cheaply and quickly

Should You Buy a Luxury Car

Author : Mike Kay

Well off people normally have more than one car They have cars for work and they have cars for special occasions The special occasion cars are usually luxury cars that cost several times as much as a regular sedan The question is should you be buying luxury cars at all?

Some people prefer luxury cars over a sedan And there are simply too many cars in the market claiming to be one even if they are short on certain features So before you fall for these claims hook, line, and sinker, it is best that you know what a luxury vehicle really is and what is not

Leather seats and an exceptional stereo system don t make a car a luxury vehicle Keep in mind that luxury cars are not built overnight More than the make and model of the car, these vehicles require years of planning and design And so the companies that are worthy to release luxury cars are only those who have been in the automotive industry for a long time It would be an added plus it they have already proven their worth in that particular line

Lexus cars and Rolls and Royce are good examples of luxury cars But before you go ahead and purchase these vehicles, you ve got to ask yourself if you can afford it If you can t, would you settle for a second hand? Luxury car manufacturers imply that if you re asking for the price of a luxury vehicle prior to buying it, chances are, you can t afford it So unless you can go up to a million on one luxury car, it is not worth asking whether or not you should buy one or not

Why do you have to buy a luxury car in the first place? This is the most important question of all Would like to buy one because you want to look better off among your friends and colleagues? Would you like to impress somebody? Or do you simply like to own one, park it around the house, and pull it off the garage whenever you want to arrive in style at some place? While these are all good reasons to buy luxury cars, they are not sufficient enough to justify the price of these vehicles Even if you re buying a second hand, it is still advisable that you go for a brand new sedan that performs better than a run down BMW

Luxury cars are expensive because they have lots of extras For one thing, driving these cars is a lot more comfortable than driving anything else The cabin is very comfortable and it is a quiet ride all the time You ll never hear the noise of the engine as you drive it Also, the body of the car is impeccable No flaws or inferior materials used whatsoever Luxury cars are cars made for the king And that s why they re priced for the king too

Maintaining such cars can be a pain in the pocket as well This is yet another point to consider when buying luxury cars Are you prepared to buy twice as much gas? Would you have the time and the means to leave the car at an expensive car care center for regular checkups? Keep in mind that your cash out would not be over after the purchase the car Expect to spend more as you go along

Nicely Priced Mopeds Could Save You Money

Author : Kristi Ambrose

It’s been said over the last few years that mopeds are going to start to really get popular Not only are they inexpensive to buy ($600 – $4000) but they are also easy on gas (80-90 MPG), easy to park, easy to drive and they are also Eco friendly! This is a great option for people that are trying to be “greener” and lead a greener lifestyle

People of all sorts can own one of these and as aforementioned you can do it for such a small price – why wouldn’t you! I think a lot of people think of a scooter or moped and picture it going like 15MPH but actually a lot of these Mopeds like the Honda moped metropolitan go around 40-50 miles per hour! These are good if you live anywhere as well – suburb, country, city, beach life

There are all kinds of different brands out there – just like with automobiles In fact, a lot of these brand name moped names are manufacturers that DO make cars For example, you have the Honda Scooter, which is obviously made by Honda You also have bike companies joining in as well – Schwinn is another big one

Then, you have off brands as well – less options but less expensive as well All in all you should be able to buy a really nice Moped at around $1500 And this includes all the bells and whistles just like a car would, such as; different colors, seating options (one or two people), radios, 4 speed manual trannies, etc While there are different brands the Honda’s DO seem to be the most popular and well-liked

Their 49cc Ruckus ($1999) is a bare bones looking scooter with the frame exposed all over The Metropolitan II ($1849) offers cool colors, 49cc while the Metropolitan for the same price offers similar features and stylish graphics The Elite 80 sells for $2349 and has an 80cc 4 stroke engine and an automatic transmission The comfortable seat is great for 2 and it handles great in traffic

The Helix is both larger (249cc) and more expensive at $5349 The 2007 Honda Helix is liquid cooled and goes much faster than the Elite 80 The Helix is a great all-weather commute scooter The Honda Reflex ($5499) series – Reflex ABS – Reflex Sport – Reflex Sport ABS – are fun to drive with automatic transmissions, comfortable 2 person seating, and smooth acceleration

Tomos mopeds are hot sellers as well these days with the Tomos Streetmate ($1849), Tomos Arrow ($1499) – 100+ miles per gallon and a 2-speed auto transmission, Tomos Revival TS for $1799 with electric start and air cooled, Tomos ST ($1299) and Tomos Spring ($1099) As you can see from the prices above – $1500 seems to be what you will be looking at as far as price goes

The ones that are more than $4k start to become like motorcycles Frankly, I love motorcycles, but I would never want to drive one Too scary! However, the Moped isn’t scary at all It has a very light body that is easy to stand up on your own and the wheel base is very comfortable as well!

Don t Fall For The Scam Of The Dealer Preparation Fee When Buying A New Car

Author : Gregg Hall

A more accurate definition here could be “Excessive Charge”, because this is not actually fraudulent, nor is it illegal In all fairness most car dealers do adequately disclose this fee on their paperwork Many auto dealers even admit that it’s a means for them to regain some of their “losses” when discounting the car off the MSRP retail price Some times this includes things like rust proofing Just so you know, the cost to apply any of these products is negligible and the price charged is almost pure profit

While many auto dealers can be fair on this, in many cases this fee can be too excessive, and since it is printed permanently on their buyers form, what about the case when you pay full price on the car, and you have to pay another $500 or $600 more in fees? Automotive salespeople try to convince you that a crack team of NASA experts executed a three day 10,000 point check of your the car you are interested in Dealer prep “covers their cost” of taking the protective plastic from the seats, vacuuming the interior, adding fluids, and preparing the vehicle for sale Total time: 2 hours max

This means if a car dealer charges a $600 dealer prep charge, you’re effectively paying them $300 an hour to make your car ready to go! Who in the world besides maybe Bill Gates gets paid $300 and hour? Besides, it’s all a scam anyway just to add profit Don’t fall for this You see, the automobile manufacturer pays the car dealer for pre-delivery service and it is already included in the MSRP Like I said, this is just a way for dealers to get extra money out of you

In many cases, this fee is permanently printed on the buyer’s order form to make you believe it’s compulsory, but a lot of people make the dealer take it away by adding a credit entry on the next line So if you see a $600 dealer prep fee on the form, make them add a $600 credit to balance it out

If they won’t budge on the dealer prep scam fee you need to make up your mind how bad you want that car You should have no problem walking out of a dealership over a $600 fee Go to the next car dealer on your list, and tell them “Here’s the deal Drop the dealer prep fee, and the deal is yours” Remember, Dealer Prep is not against the law, but it gives you zero intrinsic value Either you agree with the fee, or you don’t As someone who spent over 10 years in the car business I can tell you I would never pay it
