Driving a Luxurious Vehicle with Car Contract Hire

Author : Musa Aykac

With the current financial situation in full swing, we have to control spending of unnecessary money, but in this day and age a car is a necessity, you cannot go anywhere nor do anything without a vehicle We all know how stressful it can be to constantly use public transport for commuting purposes

But when buying a car people are quite fussy on what they actually want to drive, standards have gone through the roof and people love to drive cars such as Mercedes, Jeeps and BMW’s, but these vehicles are very pricey and during the current financial downfall it is not good to get into long term financial contracts, as there is people being made redundant left right and centre

The best choice at the moment would be in the form of leasing or car contract hire This way you are not getting yourself into any long term financial difficulties and the supplier will deal with any problems that may occur with the vehicle There is also another potential positive effect and that comes in the form of deflation of used vehicles Let us just say that you purchased a brand new Mercedes for your self at the cost of twenty thousand pounds A few months pass by and you decide that you can no longer afford the vehicle, keeping in mind that these types of vehicles consume fuel like there is no tomorrow, you have no choice but to sell it but I guarantee you will never be able to get your money back

But there are also many other benefits that car leasing can bring, please see below as to why you should definitely consider leasing

First and foremost you can easily keep up to date with different trends of vehicles Most leasing suppliers provide you with top of the range models as soon as they are released, this way you will always be driving awesome pieces of equipment

The next aspect as mentioned above is the flexibility you can get from leasing, you do not need to haggle with mechanics to get your car repaired as this all comes in with the deal and most importantly you can set the contract term Whether you are looking for a 1 month, 3 month or 12 months lease, there are a huge selection of companies that are available to guide you all the way and make you happy with your chosen vehicle

It Was Indeed A Doozy

Author : Brenda Williams

During the decade of the 1930 s it was quite common to hear the phrase, It s a doozy This was used to describe anything that was the best of everything

It is attributed to the Duesenberg automobile that was reputed to have the mechanical precision of a Rolls Royce accompanied by the epitome of style, luxury, and elegance

The Duesenberg was the creation of Fred and August Duesenberg, self taught engineers, who hand crafted their cars In 1913, they opened the Duesenberg Automobile and Motors Co on State Street in Garner, Iowa and started building sports cars

At the Daytona in 1930, the Duesenberg set a new land record speed of 156 miles per hour Again in 1921, Jimmy Murphy, who was the first American to win the French Grand Prix, drove a Duesenberg across the finish line at LeMans And as late as 1960, the only American car to win a European Grand Prix was the Duesenberg

Then again in 1924, 1925, and 1927 a Duesenberg finished first in the Indianapolis 500

However, in July of 1921, the Duesenberg factory was moved to Indianapolis and began the production of passenger cars The first vehicle manufactured was the Model A Six hundred and sixty of these cars were produced

The Model A was an advanced car for the times It had dual overhead camshafts, 4 valve cylinder heads and the first hydraulic brakes ever installed on a passenger car

In spite of this, it was not a success and the company was forced to file bankruptcy in 1922

In 1926, E L Cord, who was already a successful automotive entrepreneur, purchased the company to acquire the engineering skills of the brothers and the brand name

Fred Duesenberg was a genius engineer and Cord was an innovative designer Together they were an unbeatable team They produced the Model J, which was unveiled at the New York Car Show in 1928 It had a top speed of 119 mph and could attain 94 mph in second gear It was undoubtedly the best of its time

Only the chassis and engine was exhibited in New York The interior and body were always custom built to the purchaser s specifications

The Duesenberg was definitely the choice of the rich and famous It was popular with Hollywood celebrities as well as European royalty Gary Cooper and Clark Gable drove the convertible King Alfonso XIII chose the Duesenberg J to accompany him into exile

The Duesenberg was not only owned by Hollywood actors and actresses, it also starred in films

In the 1959film, Some Like It Hot , starring Marilyn Monroe and Tony Curtis, the Duesenberg, charges into a parking lot and unloads a car full of outlaws They deliver a barrage of bullets to their mobster foes, jump back in the car, and leave with the chain and entry Sound Your Horn sign hanging on to the bottom of the car A Duesenberg also appeared in Pocketful of Miracles and The Mummy Returns

The Duesenberg was advertised as the best car in the world and the claim would be difficult to dispute Unfortunately, Cord s financial empire was unable to survive The Great Depression and the company ceased production in 1937

Three Important Car Repair Shop Tips

Author : Everette Jamison

Cars break down It is unavoidable, but when they do, finding a good mechanic can be a challenge Many of us have a healthy amount of cynicism about the car repair industry News reports of fraudulent activity or personal experience with repair shops hard sales tactics have made us vigilant While it is good to be alert for possible fraud, most car mechanics are honest, hard-working, and devoted to their craft When your car is experiencing problems, they want to help In this article, I will explain how you can find an auto repair shop that is best-suited for your circumstances

Tip number 1: Look For A Specialist

Some repair shops are generalists They can work on just about any type of mechanical or electrical problem That said, because of the breadth of their skills, they tend not to be experts in any particular area Specialists focus on one or two areas of expertise For example, many car technicians will work primarily on transmissions Others will focus on resolving problems in a car’s exhaust system While such specialists may not be able to handle every type of repair job, they are uniquely qualified for their area of expertise Consider having a specialist perform the repair work on your car They’re often more knowledgeable and efficient than other mechanics

Tip number 2: Trust, But Verify

Trusting a mechanic to work on your car may seem counterintuitive, but it is important to allow them to do their jobs A lot of people are nearly paranoid of being charged for parts and labor that are unnecessary So, they will hover around the technician, making sure the job is done properly That can be stifling for a mechanic Trust them with their area of expertise That said, it is always a good idea to get a written estimate You should also ask the repair shop to call you before starting work that will cost more than the estimate Finally, if you’re having parts replaced, ask that the old parts be returned to you

Tip Number 3: Communicate Clearly

When you are talking with a car technician, focus on the symptoms of the problem It does not matter if you think the alternator needs to be replaced Explain the symptoms and let the mechanic figure it out Chances are, he is going to run a diagnostic test which will help him identify the components that need to be repaired or replaced

Getting Your Car Fixed

Whether you are having a tune up performed on a new car or major work done on a used car, use the 3 tips above to find a suitable auto repair shop Try to find a specialist who can perform the work efficiently Learn to trust your mechanic and communicate the symptoms you have noticed And finally, remember that most car technicians are hard-working and honest people They want to help you solve your cars problems

How Can We Afford To Get From A To B During A Recession

Author : Shaun Parker

One hundred years ago people were looking at the few motor cars on the road as a bit of a phenomenon ‘They’ll never last’ was bandied around as a catchphrase for pedestrians every time they saw a motor vehicle

My, how times have changed In a few short years, the world had moved on to a position where it would virtually come to a standstill if it weren’t for the cars that everybody relies on Real horse power has been exchanged for horse power within engines

In affluent countries, the majority of the population own or lease new or used cars Even in the poorest of countries, motor vehicles are still evident They have become an individual mode of transport that is now an essential part of life Everybody is in a hurry to be somewhere or do something and if we had to do that by walking, well, it simply wouldn’t happen within the time frame called for

Life has become hectic and people are spread further across the globe In towns and cities, it is not uncommon for people to have to travel many miles to get backwards and forwards to work every day This makes the car a vital piece of everyday equipment

Apart from a house, the car is often the most expensive item you will have to pay out for It has to be reliable, dependable, trustworthy It has to get you from A to B with the least amount of assistance and maintenance and on top of all this there is now the pressure to obtain one that is environmentally friendly All on our limited budgets

Of course, this market has quickly given rise to a market for used cars There are those who are fortunate enough to be able to change their vehicles frequently, leaving quite an impressive used cars market for the rest of us There are also many car manufacturers who have taken control of their own used car market, bringing us quality vehicles with many guarantees and assurances that we are not just picking up someone else’s old banger

It used to be a bit of a joke that used car salesmen were wheeler dealers who could be a little bit dodgy but times have changed here too Dealing in used cars is now a respectable business There are less of them about but this means that those left are often reputable and are the ideal place to pick up a bargain in used cars

It’s important for everybody these days that they keep their expenses to a minimum and buying a second hand car is a good way to do this There is never a good time for the outlay of such an item but if you start to look around before it becomes absolutely necessary, then you have time to find exactly what you are looking for at a very reasonable cost

Unless, of course, you would like to rely on public transport? Not completely unrealistic but far from the easiest option The world has become a much smaller place in that virtually every part of it is accessible yet we still need to get to relatives and work etc in as short a time as possible Hence, the need for cars – new or used

Understanding What is Wrong With Your Car

Author : Everette Jamison

Cars are complex machines that depend upon the seamless operation of a myriad of parts When one of those parts malfunctions or breaks, it can cause your car to experience a host of issues But, not every problem is serious What’s more, some problems seem small initially, but can eventually cause major – and expensive – damage to vital systems Drivers often have a number of questions regarding things they notice about their cars that seem out of place Below, I will provide answers to some common car-related questions

Slow Gear Response

You might have noticed that putting your car into reverse results in a slow reaction time Often, you will have to press hard on the gas pedal just to move your car Similarly, going from reverse to drive yields the same slow response (or non-response) In most cases, it implies that your transmission fluid level is low Leave your car running and check the level (your car’s engine needs to be warm before checking) If the fluid level seems appropriate, it is likely that your transmission is having a problem

Warming The Car Up

Many years ago, it was a good idea to allow your car to warm up for a few minutes before driving it in cold weather A lot of people continue to do this, even though it is unnecessary Today’s vehicles are built with efficient fuel systems As a result, they don’t need to sit, idling in cold weather before driving Usually, 20 seconds is sufficient to allow the motor oil to distribute throughout the parts Anything more is a waste of time and gas

Letting The Engine Sit

You might be surprised to learn that allowing your engine to sit for weeks without use can actually have a negative impact on the car Here is why, your car’s battery sustains a natural drain over time, even when you are not driving it If you allow your engine to sit for several weeks, it is possible that the battery will drain to the point of not passing an electrical current When that happens, you may have difficulty starting your car Try to drive your car for at least 20 consecutive minutes every week That will help your battery retain its charge

Common Car Questions And Problems

Even though cars are complex machines, it is easy to learn how the various parts operate And once you know how they work, you will start to understand what factors influence their performance That is the first step toward diagnosing symptoms that might suggest small problems under the hood The sooner you can address problems when they are small, the better chance you will have to prevent them from becoming serious and costly in the future

Repair Your Bad Credit First Buy Your Car Later

Author : Keith Londrie

Bad credit spoils everything your dreams for a new house, new car, student loan, any kind of loan If you have fallen into the debt trap, the best thing to do is to repair your bad credit first and to go shopping later

Many people will not follow this advice especially if they want to buy a new car Probably the main reason is that first of all a car is not a high value purchase and second they do not want to wait Of course financing for buying a car with a bad credit history is available It is a separate question who will provide it and if the terms will be as good as they can be if the credit score was OK

For those who want to repair their bad credit, here are a few tips about how to achieve this

The first thing to do is to get a copy of your credit report Get an annual copy and check it thoroughly You will easily see which loan or loans caused the bad credit score Try to sort them out by making a repayment plan You can ask the creditor to do it for you or to ask an independent company to do it No matter who will make the plan, be honest about your incomes so that a reasonable and realistic plan to be made and start paying the repayment fees regularly Missing the final repayment date also harms your credit history

The next steps depend on the type of debt you have If you have credit card debt you can try applying for a new card and start using it carefully while repaying the old debts You good “behavior” will count when your credit score is reviewed

The last resort to “start clean” is to file bankruptcy This will clean some or all of your debt but will leave a huge ugly stain in your credit history Of course people who bankrupt can fix their credit score but the time required for this is much more

Once you have a plan and have taken steps to rebuild your credit score, be accurate and patient Your bad credit will turn into something from the past quickly if you stay current with outstanding bills, repayments and any other financial issues Always check the monthly statements and plan in advance how to pay all of your bills in time If you find you are not earning enough, that cut off your budget This is not the most pleasant thing but it wil help in the long run

Preserving Your Car Bodywork

Author : Ryan Draving

If you cannot keep your vehicle in a garage or other fixed shelter that provides all round protection for your car, truck or boat then you need to consider covering your vehicle to give it the protection it needs

Bodywork paint is susceptible to a range of environmental factors including the weather with rain causing rust and general discoloration and the sun in particular is a major cause of faded paint work It is not just the weather that you have to be aware of when you are looking to protect the appearance of your car as there are other factors that contribute to the deterioration of paint and bodywork Bird droppings are highly acidic and will actually eat away at paint exposing the bodywork so that other agents can create damage, particularly water Even if no bodywork is exposed, the chemical components will react with each other causing the development of ugly discoloured spots on your car as well as damaging the shine you are able to produce from waxing and cleaning

Many times you will see a vehicle parked up in the yard or on the drive in front of the garage and a host of kids running around with bicycles and toys; all of these things inevitably result in some form of collision with your car and create scratches, dings and indentations You need to ensure that your vehicle has enough protection from the elements, from wildlife and animals and simple things like a ball bouncing off the hood as the children are playing

The best form of outdoor protection for your car is a quality car cover Modern materials are able to provide a waterproof protective layer which will minimize the impact of rain on your paintwork and the effect of rust which can develop under the paint work and remain unseen until substantial amounts of damage have been caused You should also ensure that the car cover is made of materials which will prevent the harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays of the sun penetrating and causing that faded look you so often see on older cars or indeed, any vehicle that has been left out in the sun too long

A quality car protection cover will also be sturdy enough to take the impact of minor accidents such as falling branches or a bicycle brushing alongside the bodywork Obviously we are not going to have armor plated car covers but a robust material will help minimize the impact of an enormous range of everyday occurrences which create so much damage to a car’s bodywork

You should also ensure that the cover fits your vehicle as snugly as possible and can be secured in place so it will not be simply blown loose in a storm or high wind There is no point in securing protection for your car only for part of the covering to come loose when you may not discover this for several weeks or months and allow the elements to damage your vehicle

The best covers will fit easily and securely around your car as well as being made of durable and modern materials which will stand the test of time and the impact of the environment Once they are no longer needed, they will also easily and quickly be stored and will not lose their protective qualities as a result of being stored such as cracking or rotting

Using a car cover is the safest, easiest and cheapest form of car preservation you can invest in to protect your investment and enjoy your vehicle to the fullest
