Police cars are used across the country and throughout the world to aid in police patrols, traffic stops, accident investigations and to help keep the peace Before the invention of automobiles and the development of police cars; police officers would patrol their jurisdiction on foot or on horseback The very first police car was run by electricity and it patrolled the streets of Akron, Ohio in 1899 Its speed was 16 MPH and it could travel only 30 miles before the battery needed to be recharged Now police officers can patrol local side streets and major highways by using their police cruisers Police cars come in all shapes, sizes and colors The majority of police cars use a black and white color scheme or a white and blue color scheme

Police cars have emergency lights, usually a variety of colors including blue and red, and blaring sirens to warn the public of their impending presence at an intersection or for the driver of a civilian vehicle to pull off the road for a traffic stop Police cars are also equipped with a spot light and a megaphone The megaphone is used for the officer driving the car to communicate with the public about where to maneuver their vehicles or what the new traffic pattern is

There have been various makes and models of automobiles used as police cars In Germany, there are police cars manufactured out of Mercedes Benz vehicles In the United States such models used are the Chevrolet Caprice and Impala, the Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor and the Ford Focus Some of the newer versions of police cruisers use the Dodge Charger and the Dodge Durango The use of the new version of the Dodge Durango has become widely popular in the state of New Jersey for township police departments and state troopers

The majority of police cars usually have decals on the outside of the vehicle that displays their town of service or state of service for state troopers but some police vehicles are unmarked They usually do not have any writing or decals on the outside of the vehicle and do not have lights on the roof of the car The lights are usually located in the vehicle’s grill or in the windshield near the radar gun

Police cars are equipped with a two way for the police officer to contact other officers, the police station or the dispatch headquarters Police cars are also equipped with a Plexiglas window or bars separating the front seat from the back seat so that any that is arrested cannot reach or harm the police officers from the back seat There are also some police cruisers that are specifically made for dogs These are called the K 9 Units K 9 Units are popular in almost every police department across the country The K 9 Units are useful in finding drugs and other weaponry at a crime scene

Police cars are part of society and help maintain the rules of the road and the safety of the public by transporting officers in a quick and efficient manner

While the Ford Motor Company is one of the largest car manufacturers in the world, they have long been reluctant to get into the electric car market However, they did manufacture, market, and sell an electric car in an attempt to meet the consumer demands for a cleaner car that will produce less pollution and emit no greenhouse gases Ford responded with their own version of the electric car

The Think City electric car was produced by Ford several years ago, and many people took advantage of this pollution free, energy efficient vehicle However, the United States has very strict standards when it comes to the safety of the vehicles on Americas roads Unfortunately, the Think City electric car did not meet those rigorous standards so Ford ceased production and actually crushed the cars when they were returned at the end of customers leases There are still some Think City cars out there, but they are no longer being marketed by Ford

Ford has, however, started exploring and implementing the production of hybrid electric cars that run mostly on battery power and have the ability to switch over to gasoline power In fact, there are many of these electric vehicles on the road today Ford is a leader in the industry and they did not want to limit their production of electric vehicles to just cars You can now find electric Ford trucks, SUVs, and mini vans

Electric cars made by Ford are now mostly of the hybrid version, but there also are Ford brand electric cars that you can find overseas Because other countries do not have as stringent safety standards, people in countries like England and France have taken the advantages of the electric car and are driving them en masse

Some people are disappointed that Ford has made the move from a totally electric car to a hybrid vehicle, but without being able to meet safety standards, the companys hands essentially were tied It was not cost efficient for them to take the electric cars already on the road and meet the set standards, so they had to do what they could to meet the demands of their customers for a more environmentally friendly vehicle

Being an industry leader in the car field, Ford is doing what they can to meet the requests of their customers for an electric car Perhaps in the future, a fully electric car with the Ford name on it is possible But for now, Ford enthusiasts will have to settle for hybrid versions

Man is free to take advantage of technology and this is one way to develop new ideas that can further benefit mankind The car featured in the auto show was designed to disseminate intelligence The sources are from various cross-media about security and traffic The car can continuously dialog with the city, other vehicles, and the road without restraining the autonomy of motorists

The outside appearance of the car is similar to that of today’s sports cars but the aerodynamic exterior makes it very much different It has a unique concept called liquid packaging What caught the attention of the audiences are the four fuel cells The manufacturer called it Quaddrivium Fuel Cells

The hydrogen cells were positioned near the car’s wheels and each wheel is then powered with 20kw The car also has a distinctive electric motor, additional battery coming from regenerative breaking and solar panels The complicated electronic architecture uses modular power which depends in the driving condition The dashboard is translucent and it displays various pieces of information

The dashboard lights up when an important matter requires the attention of the driver The headlights of the future car are equipped with radar and tele-cameras to ease information processing

The design of the car is too much for the audience and most of them still think that it was definitely a car for the future They can’t imagine a sophisticated car like the Sintesi to roam the streets of today But if you try to analyze it closely, the entire car concept was based on available technologies and so it is not impossible to use the Sintesi today If ever the various automakers can produce cars of the future that makes use of hydrogen cells, people can expect safer streets and better traffic flow in the coming years

A lot of motoring publications covered the Sintesi, whether on the internet or in local publications If Pininfarina can create a future vehicle, then so can other automakers like General Motors and BMW In fact, news has it that these two car manufacturers are already designing a car that makes use of hydrogen cells BMW is currently testing hydrogen powered vehicles in Germany and General Motors is going to follow

Perhaps, future cars will soon be roaming the streets of rich countries Well of course, the sophisticated cars will definitely be very expensive and only the rich people can afford it However, as the years pass and the production of such cars become stable, even the ordinary individuals can afford it

Now, you can just dream that you own a future car But who knows, perhaps in the near future such cars will be sold in the market already So start saving money now so that once the future cars are launched for the public, you can afford to buy one

No one likes being pulled over and getting speeding tickets, but chances are that you will at least once during your car driving days When this unfortunate event occurs, it is best to be prepared ahead of time Knowing how to act when you are receiving speeding tickets may make the experience a lot less painful and keep you from being charged more due to inappropriate behavior and comments

Things to know when you are being pulled over for a speeding ticket:

1 Get to the right shoulder as soon as possible Never pull to the left shoulder, even when in the left hand lane This will keep you and the officer from being in the path of oncoming traffic, making the experience safer for you both (A happier officer is a more generous officer when it comes to getting speeding tickets!) Pull as far over onto the right shoulder as is possible

2 At night, with unmarked police cars (and even marked ones), continue driving to a lighted area A gas station or all night convenience store is a good place to travel to, as there are other people around Officers should not have any problems when you do this, as it keeps everyone involved safer

3 Keep your hands on the steering wheel in plain sight at all times When the officer arrives at your window to give you the speeding ticket, this shows the officer clearly he has no reason to be aggressive In reality, this officer has no idea who you are, and even with something as simple as giving a speeding ticket he or she can be taking a big risk

4 Keep all your movements while you are interacting with the officer to a minimum The officer may be able to see you are moving, but he or she has no idea what you are going for State what you are doing and keep your movements slow at all times

5 Don’t insult the officer’s intelligence by calling him or her “sir” or “ma’am” constantly The officer will not be flattered or impressed, and this can show on the amount charged on your speeding ticket

6 Don’t hurt yourself by volunteering incriminating evidence Answer questions with a “yes” or “no” and keep answers short and too the point The only time you should expand on speeding is when there is a medical emergency, and in that situation the officer can actually be of assistance

7 If your license and registration are in your glove compartment, tell the officer that and ask if you can retrieve them Once you have taken them out, leave the glove compartment open If it happens to be in the compartment between the front seats, tell the officer that and ask if you can retrieve them Once you have taken them out, close the center compartment With the center compartment, the officer may be concerned there is a weapon inside, so closing it can give the officer a more secure feeling while writing out the speeding ticket

8 Never argue about your speeding tickets on the side of the road The officer will not listen, as the court will decide if the speeding was justified

9 Keep paperwork dealing with your speeding tickets!

a A copy of the ticket

b License plate and ID number of the officer’s car

c Make and model of the radar gun used

d A personal account of events, including place, time, weather conditions, amount of traffic, officer’s attitude whatever detail that you think might be relevant

If you follow the first several tips on this list, the officer may let you get off with just a warning By being cooperative, the officer may give you a break However, if the officer is definitely going to write up the speeding ticket, follow the end of the list to make the experience as quick and easy as possible
